What is DaeX?
Destination Accommodation Exchange (DaeX) is the world’s first real-time, internet hotel inventory consolidator for multiple and independent hotels worldwide. Providing instant confirmation solutions to tour operators and travel agents, the system is completely automated and interfaces a hotel’s property management system (PMS) to an internet booking engine, or tour operating system.

What led eVentures to introduce a destination-based tool like DaeX?
eVentures has been closely tracking the phenomenal growth experienced by the leisure and business accommodation markets in Dubai. With Emirates airlines continuing to expand globally and Dubai pushing to increase inbound tourist traffic to 12 million a year by the end of the decade, hotels and their wholesale customers are increasingly facing challenges in offering swift booking confirmation.
To make it easier for the travel industry to conduct business in Dubai, eVentures has identified the need to streamline the hotel booking process to reduce costs, retain customers and develop business.

How does DaeX work?
DaeX has been designed by Mercator, the global air travel industry’s leading IT solutions supplier, and developed by MICROS-Fidelio the hospitality industry’s leading provider of integrated software solutions. It builds on the leading hotel property management system that caters for 99.7% of all five star and 60.2% of all four star hotel rooms in Dubai.
As a powerful, cost-effective, immediate destination-based tool, DaeX provides a single, real-time view of the availability of Dubai’s hotel accommodation. Designated travel agents and tour operators across the globe, and participating hotels’ reservation networks can use DaeX to book accommodation in Dubai. Additionally, DaeX can be integrated into existing systems and applications to automate the booking cycle from both hotel and tour operator perspectives.

How is MICROS-Fidelio associated to DaeX?
MICROS-Fidelio provides nearly 100% of PMS to the 5 star hotels and approximately 60% to 4 star hotels in Dubai. This combined with their myfidelio.net technology has made them the perfect partner for DaeX.
Back to FAQ questions
What are the regions being targeted by DaeX?
Initially DaeX will be launched for Dubai but we expect it to grow rapidly to embrace other major destinations.
DaeX is being primed for expansion with some hotel chains represented in Dubai already highlighting the opportunity of bringing their other world-wide properties onto the system.
Back to FAQ questions
Why should hoteliers and tour operators choose DaeX?
DaeX is the world’s first real-time, internet hotel inventory consolidator that provides tour operators’ availability of allocated and non-allocated rooms. Combined with up-to-the-minute information provided by hotels, DaeX ensures that bookings are made directly into property management systems via the internet.
Back to FAQ questions
How cost-effective is DaeX to the hotelier industry as compared to other existing tools or methods used?
DaeX is extremely cost effective as it uses existing technology, namely the internet. This means hotels’ transaction costs are well below that of conventional Global Distribution System (GDS) fees.
Back to FAQ questions
What other benefits will hotels get by partnering with DaeX?
Hotels will experience cost reductions in reservation centres and streamlined distribution of product information. DaeX comes with a web-based hotel information management system (HIMS) that allows the dissemination of product information via an online service to other web sites and intranets. Hotels can now benefit from a single point of upload and the capability of distributing the information via the internet quickly and efficiently.
Back to FAQ questions
From an IT perspective, is the DaeX environment compatible with systems used by hoteliers and tour operators?
Absolutely, we have partnered with the market leader in the provision of property management systems – MICROS-Fidelio. By doing this we have utilised existing technologies such as myfidelio.net and the latest PMS version opera. In addition DaeX has been written in dot net technology enabling it to interface to any suitable xml interface.
Back to FAQ questions
Tour operators insist that contacting hotels on a personal level helps build relationships and get better bargains? How can DaeX help them gain?
DaeX helps tour operators increase their relationship with hoteliers as they can manage sub-accounts more effectively. This will allow their travel agents (customers) book live allocated inventory. Inventory consumed on an efficient and controlled basis for both parties enables better relationships between tour operators and hoteliers. When allocated inventory is exhausted, DaeX provides tour operators non-allocated rates in real-time. Once again these rates can be discussed through existing relationships which allows agents to receive live and exclusive rates based on their relationship with the hotel.

Was there a research or survey conducted that led to eVentures decision on investing in DaeX?
eVentures spent more than a year researching existing systems, hotel and tour operator processes before investing in DaeX. The team developed a detailed understanding of the complexities involved in the management and booking of hotel inventory. Through their research, the DaeX team has been able to forge strong relationships with both, hotels and MICROS-Fidelio who have been key elements to the success of the project to date.

What are the Future plans for DaeX?
Without doubt, DaeX is more than capable to support not only the Emirates network but the entire hotel and travel industry in Dubai. Some of the hotel chains represented in Dubai have already shown interest in bringing the rest of their world-wide properties onto the system.
Given that DaeX is internet based, there are exciting opportunities to provide it on board aircrafts where customers can opt to book accommodations. This is an exciting concept still in its infancy but will certainly add value to the airline product of the future.
